Chimpanzee ( Pan troglodytes)

Chimpanzee has most recently been assessed for The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species in 2016. Pan troglodytes is listed as Endangered.

Due to a lack of survey data in many regions, current estimates for the wild population range from 150,000 to 250,000 individuals. The distribution is still wide, but considerably smaller and more fragmented.

Chimpanzees are our closest cousins; we share about 98% of our genes.
